The fourth Angel was sent to give power to the third angel.  It united with the third angel’s message as the midnight cry had united with the second angel’s message.

Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound every where, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues; for her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, and joined it, as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon, and calling upon God’s people to come out of her; that they might escape her fearful doom. {1SG 194.1}

What are the two parts to the Loud Cry?

The Loud Cry is composed of two messages, the first of these repeats the second angel’s message, and the second and last warning is makes the call the “Come out of her, my people”.

In the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. Babylon is become: “the habitation of devils,” “the hold of every foul spirit,” “and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.”  Explain each of these elements.

The “habitation of devils” and the “The hold of every foul spirit”  is referring to people who have gone so far as to incorporate themselves with “satanic agencies” and to become the holders of these spirits.

They had chosen a ruler who chained them to his car as captive… Satanic agencies were incorporated with men. The bodies of human beings, made for the dwelling place of God, had become the habitation of demons. The senses, the nerves, the passions, the organs of men, were worked by supernatural agencies in the indulgence of the vilest lust. The very stamp of demons was impressed upon the countenances of men. Human faces reflected the expression of the legions of evil with which they were possessed. {DA 36.3}

List and explain the sins of Babylon, as stated in Revelation 18.

The world will be pulled into the sins of Babylon, and into spiritualism.  They will reject the truth, and their hearts will be dead and hardened to the light presented to them.

With every rejection of truth, the minds of the people will become darker, their hearts more stubborn, until they are entrenched in an infidel hardihood. In defiance of the warnings which God has given, they will continue to trample upon one of the precepts of the decalogue, until they are led to persecute those who hold it sacred. Christ is set at naught in the contempt placed upon his Word and his people. As the teachings of Spiritualism are accepted by the churches, the restraint imposed upon the carnal heart is removed, and the profession of religion will become a cloak to conceal the basest iniquity. A belief in spiritual manifestations opens the door to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils, and thus the influence of evil angels will be felt in the churches. {GC88 603.2}

When does Babylon’s sins reach unto heaven?

Babylon’s sins reach heaven when “she has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to fall upon her.”

Of Babylon, at the time brought to view in this prophecy, it is declared: “Her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” Revelation 18:5. She has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to fall upon her. But God still has a people in Babylon; and before the visitation of His judgments these faithful ones must be called out, that they partake not of her sins and “receive not of her plagues.” Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from heaven, lightening the earth with his glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. ” In connection with his message the call is heard: “Come out of her, My people. Why does Revelation 18 say that Babylon receives the plagues?

The sins of Babylon cannot go without punishment.

God keeps a record with the nations. The figures are swelling against them in the books of heaven, and when it shall have become a law that the transgression of the first day of the week shall be met with punishment, then their cup will be full.–7BC 910 (1886).

Those who are honestly serving God, but are keeping the first day of the week as a sanctified day are breaking God’s commandments.  They are thinking themselves powerful above God.

But the man of sin, exalting himself above God, sitting in the temple of God, and showing himself to be God, thought to change times and laws. This power, thinking to prove that it was not only equal to God, but above God, changed the rest day, placing the first day of the week where the seventh should be. And the Protestant world has taken this child of the papacy to be regarded as sacred. In the Word of God this is called her fornication.  {7BC 979.7}

Why are there only two distinct calls made to the churches?

The first call was made to the church in the second angel’s message, the second one is to be made at the fall of Babylon when the Sunday Law is put into effect.  This is the second and last call that is needed to be given to the churches.

Upon the start of Christ’s closing work of atonement, he gave us a message to bear to all the world.  This message is one that is to warn the entire world of this closing work.

When Christ entered the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary to perform the closing work of the atonement, he committed to his servants the last message of mercy to be given to the world. Of all who receive this mark, God says, “The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.” . . .  {7BC 979.12}

How are those who receive the mark of the beast “tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever”?

The entire universe alike join together to witness the final coronation of the Son of God.  After this takes place, the Son of God puts into use his “supreme majesty and power” and pronounces the sentence upon the wicked, and saints and angels alike witness the justice put upon the wicked.

In the presence of the assembled inhabitants of earth and heaven the final coronation of the Son of God takes place. And now, invested with supreme majesty and power, the King of kings pronounces sentence upon the rebels against His government and executes justice upon those who have transgressed His law and oppressed His people. . . . {Mar 339.4}

What does it mean that “the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever”? Give some Biblical support. You could also take a look at Jude 7 and Isa. 34:10,11.

When God pronounces judgement on the wicked, this punishment will stand for ever and ever.  The punishment that came upon Sodom and Gomorraha as described in Jude 7 is the same punishment that will come to pass on the wicked.  The only difference between these two punishments is that in the final punishment “the smoke of their torment” will ascend for ever and ever.

The second Angel’s message was given right after the first.  It was after the church rejected the warning of the first Angel’s message that the second was given.  These two messages took place in the time period of 1843-1844, but the second specifically took place in the summer of 1844.

Why are there only two distinct calls made to the churches?

One of these calls was made to the church towards the beginning of the ministration of Jesus in the Most Holy Place, and one was to be made towards the close.  When the first call was made, the purpose was to wake the church up to the realization that church was now “drinking of the wrath of her fornication.”  It was meant to help the church realize that Jesus was now beginning one of the last works of His ministration for them, and that they should not take Christianity lightly.  The last message in the same way was meant to make man realize that time is short, and that now not only is Christ starting with His final work, but His is now almost finished with it.  There are no other calls made to the church for the reason that between the first and second call or message, there have been no warnings needed to give to the church, however time is still running out, and we should still make haste to accomplish the work given us.

I saw that God was in the proclamation of the time in 1843. It was his design to arouse the people, and bring them to a testing point where they should decide. Ministers were convicted and convinced of the correctness of the positions taken on the prophetic periods, and they left their pride, their salaries, and their churches, to go forth from place to place and proclaim the message. But as the message from heaven could find a place in the hearts of but a very few of the professed ministers of Christ, the work was laid upon many who were not preachers. Some left their fields to sound the message, while others were called from their shops and their merchandise. And even some professional men were compelled to leave their professions to engage in the unpopular work of giving the first angel’s message. Ministers laid aside their sectarian views and feelings, and united in proclaiming the coming of Jesus. The people were moved everywhere the message reached them. Sinners repented, wept and prayed for forgiveness, and those whose lives had been marked with dishonesty, were anxious to make restitution. {1SG 133.1}

How is the first angel’s message announcing ” the hour of His judgment is come,” a part of the gospel?

The first angel’s message, by saying “the hour of His judgment is come”, is pointing to the closing work of Christ’s mediation for the saving for all mankind.

The announcement, “The hour of His judgment is come,” points to the closing work of Christ’s ministration for the salvation of men. It heralds a truth which must be proclaimed until the Saviour’s intercession shall cease and He shall return to the earth to take His people to Himself.  The work of judgment which began in 1844 must continue until the cases of all are decided, both of the living and the dead; hence it will extend to the close of human probation.  {GC 435.2}

While the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God’s people upon earth. This work is more clearly presented in the messages of Revelation 14. {GC 425.1}

The message itself sheds light as to the time when this movement is to take place. It is declared to be a part of the “everlasting gospel;” and it announces the opening of the judgment. The message of salvation has been preached in all ages; but this message is a part of the gospel which could be proclaimed only in the last days, for only then would it be true that the hour of judgment had come.  {GC 355.3}

How does the first angel’s message, as it was perceived during the advent movement of 1840-1844  fit together with the actual content of the first angel’s message?

We have learned that all of the Three Angels Messages have their application today, however when proclaimed in 1844 saying the “hour of His judgement is come” we can see that this message is directly linked to the proclamation of the second Advent of Christ during the 1830′s and 1840′s.

Chapters 4,5, and 6 of Revelation talk about the unsealing of a book that was written upon the inside, and the backside. This book is a peculiar book that is said to be held in the hand of the one that sits upon the throne.

When we read chapter 4 we find that it is the introduction, and gives the setting in which the next few chapters take place. As we read we find that this setting is a throne room.

Since Daniel and Revelation are one, the book referred to in Dan 12:4 and this book must be the same, or speaking of the same subject. Daniel was told to seal up this book until the time of the end. (Dan 12:4) Now that we know this, we know that when the book of Daniel was unsealed, the portion that was revealed must be a portion pertaining to the end of time. “Not till we reach this time could a message concerning the judgment be proclaimed, based on a fulfillment of these prophecies…”  {GC 355.3}

We know through Revelation 3:7,8 that this book was opened during the era of the church of Philadelphia this is during the advent movement of 1840-1844, therefore we know that this book is speaking of the redemption from Revelation 5:9.

So, the opening of this book happens at the start of the judgment, and reveals the closing work of the atonement and redemption.

Since 1798 that sealed portion of Daniel has been unsealed. Christ came to our world to reveal God.  The gospel is his instrument of redemption.  {RH, July 3, 1900 par. 13} One of the most solemn and yet most glorious truths revealed in the Bible is that of Christ’s second coming, to complete the great work of redemption…

“Who is worthy to open the book” Rev 5:2 Christ alone, through his victory over sin, was worthy to open this book, and is worthy to finish the plan of redemption by the final atonement in the most holy place in the heavenly sanctuary.

A defective character has been passed down to us through the generations. Ever since the first sin, man has had a bent toward evil, or in other words the desire to stray away from the law of God, and to follow the paths of selfishness.

When we follow God’s law, and submit our lives to Him we are expressing our love for Him. Since His character is perfect, when we submit our lives to Him and live our lives around His example, we are in the process of perfecting our characters. This process is a lifelong process, if we do not strive to achieve perfect characters, our characters will go nowhere. If we do strive to achieve perfect characters, with the help of God we may achieve our task, and reach the marriage when God will say “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

The question may arise, how is it possible to be perfect? I mean, only God is perfect right? True, but since He is perfect, and He has volunteered Himself to helping you be perfect, you may achieve perfection of character only through Him.

The thought patterns are what determine that character; the only way that you can control your character is to control your thought patterns. By controlling your thought patterns, and not taking the mind where it should not be, the character will grow. You may, by thinking on Godly things uplift your character to the level of the Most High. Therefore it may be said that the mental and moral powers are the workmen that build the character.

So you see, in the long process of perfecting ones character, we have to control our thought patterns and to put right thoughts in our mind. The part that we cannot do however is the part of changing our desires and feelings. God alone can do this, and he is very willing to should we submit our lives into His control.

During the time of trouble we cannot be sinless without a mediator. When we get to the judgment we need to have gone through the marriage, because if we don’t understand the blotting out of sin we will not understand how sinful we are, and therefore we won’t realize how much we actually need Christ as our Savior.

In order to have the power of the Holy Spirit we need to gain a thorough knowledge of justification by faith. Spiritualistic teachings are teachings that omit this knowledge, or omit the final atonement, and teach that man can be sinless by making right choices. We need to be on our guard and realize that our mental and moral powers are not our characters, but rather by controlling the mental and moral powers may we build the character.

By reading Daniel 9:25 we can tell that the beginning of the prophecy started after the decree of the restoration of Jerusalem, but when was this decree?  There were three decrees that were sent forth in regards to the restoration of Jerusalem, so which one is the one that Daniel 9:25 is talking about?

Ezra 7:8 says, “And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was the seventh year of the king.”

So we know that this decree must have started the prophecy in the fifth month, and the seventh year of the king Artaxerxes, but when was that?  Ellen White tells us in the Great Controversy that,

“According to the Jewish reckoning the fifth month of the seventh year of Artaxerxes’ reign was from July 23 to August 21, 457 B.C. After Ezra’s arrival in Jerusalem in the autumn of the year, the decree of the king went into effect.”  [GC Appendix note on pages 327, 329]

This gives us all the information that we need to figure out the puzzle right?  Now all we have to do is add 2300 years to 457 B.C.  This gives us the year 1843, but wait, that is including the year zero… So in all reality the date should actually be 1844.

Leviticus 16:29 tells us that the day of Atonement came on the tenth day of the seventh month, the month Nissan.  By comparison of the modern day calendar, and the Jewish calendar used at that time we can calculate that this day would fall on the 22nd of October 1844.  Ever since this date Christ has been cleansing the heavenly sanctuary.  We know not when this time will end but we should all be ready so that when it does we should all be worthy of receiving the title “good and faithful servant”.

By trying to put his law in place of God’s law,  Satan boke the curcuit of beneficence.

Original sin has put in all of us the selfish desires to break the law, and to exalt self, and selfish desires.

Our job here on earth is to perfect our characters and to become more like Christ, our concerns should constantly be on this issue, and we will grow closer to Him.

1)    Dan 8:11 speaks of a “host”, this host is speaking of stars or groups of stars.  In the Bible stars are often used to refer to God’s people.
2)    This starry host is said to be trodden under foot, this means that being turned away from Christ hurt the people.
3)    “an host was given him against the daily by reason of transgression” Dan 8:12     They desire a method of forgetting God which will pass as a method of remembering him.  The papacy is ready to meet these desires by accepting two classes of mankind, the people that wish to be saved in their sins, and those that want to be saved by their merits.  Because of their sinful desires many people have believed the lies about the “daily”.
4)    The 2300 day vision is composed of two items, the daily, and the transgression of desolation.  These represent the two altars in the sanctuary service, the altar of perpetual intercession (incense, or Christ’s Life), and the altar of continual atonement (blood, or Christ’s Death).
5)    “The Transgression of Desolation”
The sin of Adam gives original sin to every man, and sin has reigned ever since that transgression was accomplished.  The doctrine of total depravity is based on this “original sin” , and taught that “sin is our very nature, and our whole being itself.”
6)    Dan 8:13 says that the starry host, and the sanctuary are going to be “trodden under foot” this means that the peoples hearts are hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.  Their hearts become a highways for the sinful indulgences.  They are dead to the graces around them.
7)    “two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed”  The “cleansing” of the sanctuary is a purging that takes place in which the shedding of precious blood is necessary.  This blood is the blood of Christ.
8)     “when the transgressors are come to the full” Dan 8:23  These transgressors were half converted pagans, ambitious prelates, and world-loving churchmen, and when they are “come to the full” means that their work of making Sunday a day of worship is finished.  The Sunday law is Satan’s mark of authority.
